Psychotherapy | Couples Therapy | Couples Counselling | Family Therapy

In Couples or Marriage Therapy, we meet with both partners to understand difficulties in the relationship, including communication, problem solving, warmth, affection, and satisfying intimacy. Together, we work to understand those current and past systemic patterns of interaction ("the dance") which interfere with the relationship and we look at ways to positively influence communication and intimacy to create a new way of being together. In the process, partners agree on goals for the relatitonship which typically creates a more satisfying, respectful, supportive, loving and intimate relationship. Both individuals grow and expand as they move toward achieving their mutual goals. Usually we meet weekly or bi-weekly to identify the patterns creating disconnection, and to heal attachment injuries and restore connection.

Building Solutions to Achieve Goals.
We incorporate a method called "Non-Violent Communication", which focuses on improving communication, building trust, and repairing relationship wounds with practical tools that couples can use daily. For more complex dynamics, systemic and relational approaches help explore how external factors or past experiences may be influencing interpretations and beliefs about the relationship.
We don't follow a one size fit's all approach, because every couple is unique, and therapy is tailored to suit your specific needs. Whether it’s navigating conflict, rebuilding intimacy, or addressing long-standing issues, the goal is always to empower both partners to move forward together with greater understanding and connection.

Therapeutic Approaches
Our approach to couples and marriage therapy is grounded in real, practical methods designed to create meaningful change. We work with evidence-based strategies like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples identify and heal negative patterns while fostering deeper emotional connections. We also incorporate Attachment Theory, in understanding and changing patterns of coping.
